Dear Mr. Donn, The Editors note, below the article from September 1, indicated that you write often about medicine. I agree with your headline “Post-traumatic stress syndrome seen in many besides veterans” and add that there are millions more who suffer from PTSD since childhood. These are the millions nobody pays attention to or, labels them as outsiders, crazy or criminals. In your article you describe briefly the effect of PTSD after a car accident and you mention the now prevalent symptoms a war leaves in soldiers. May I invite you to write about the PTSD of childhood mental, physical and sexual abuse for those who must live with the effects of early trauma for the rest of their lives? Society is in denial and governments around the world are sweeping these facts under the carpet, in spite of all the alarming signs. My name is Sieglinde Alexander and since 1992, I have worked with Adults Abused as Children Worldwide. I have collected stories of lifelong pain from many people around the world who were abused in childhood. But it is not only me who tries to speak out about the most hidden secret, but many psychologists who deal with clients of early childhood abuse. This atrocity against human rights finds no attention in the media or is swiftly wiped off the table to avoid facing the overwhelming reality and its effects, which would otherwise awaken their own repressed early childhood memories. If you feel that the subject deserves attention, I will gladly provide you with many different angles to approach this worldwide hidden issue. Regards, Adults Abused as Children Worldwide
